And not always someone around to ask. The days can be long, too. Family is busy, friends live further away, and a lot of time passes with no one to talk to. It does not have to be this way. #### Your Elsy, and what family can see A simple, warm conversation for you. A clear wellbeing picture for the people you invite. Conversational patterns may be useful for your doctor; they are not medical care. ##### Not an emergency service In a medical emergency, Elsy cannot call for help. She is a companion, not a safety system. ##### Not a replacement for people Time with family and friends comes first, always. Elsy is for the long stretches in between, when there's no one around to talk to. #### Try the AI made for you Free for 7 days. Download, say hello, and see how it feels. Setting up Elsy for a parent or someone you love? See how that works below. #### Getting started takes a few minutes. Install Elsy and start talking. She introduces herself as an AI, asks your name, your language, what you enjoy, what you'd like help keeping track of. The more you tell her, the more personal she feels from the first conversation. Reminders don't need setting up: mention a doctor's appointment or a pill schedule, and Elsy keeps track from there. If you want family involved, invite them from Your circle. You choose what each person sees, and you can change it anytime. #### Every day: just a conversation. Open the app and tap one button. That's it. No menus, no settings, no passwords. Elsy greets you by name and talks. It might be about your day, a memory from years ago, or what's coming up this week. Over time, Elsy gets to know you: your stories, your preferences, your rhythms. If a reminder is due, she brings it up in the conversation. The more you talk, the less Elsy feels like technology and the more she feels like a familiar voice. Good morning, John Reminders Sam visits at 3pm Medications Heart pill at 8:00 A question from me What did you enjoy as a child? Elsy #### For your family: the dashboard. The family you invite get a daily picture of how you're doing. Not transcripts, not recordings: wellbeing summaries that keep them in the loop while your conversations stay yours. You decide what each person sees, from an alert-only safety net up to a hand with your reminders and medications. If a conversation suggests a concern, the people you chose get a heads-up. “Your family stays in the loop, without reading a word of what you said.” #### Designed for people, not screens. Plenty of technology seems built for someone else: small buttons, endless menus, one more password. Elsy is built the other way around. There's nothing to learn. No screens to navigate, no passwords. You tap one button and talk. If you can have a phone conversation, you can use Elsy. And because Elsy is voice-first, there's no typing and no reading small print. The technology disappears. What's left is just a conversation. #### For family: setting it up for someone you love Plenty of people come to Elsy for a parent, a partner, or a friend. Here's the same journey from your side. 1 ##### Start in the app Download Elsy on your own phone and choose "For a parent or loved one." Tell Elsy about them: their name, their language, what they enjoy, what they'd like help keeping track of. Add reminders for medications or appointments if you like. 2 ##### Hand it over Install Elsy on their phone, or open it together. She already knows who they are and greets them by name. They say yes to sharing on their own screen, and there's no account or password for them to manage. 3 ##### Stay in the loop Your dashboard shows wellbeing updates and trends, never transcripts. You can help with reminders and medications, and share key facts with Elsy so she gets the important things right. One family dashboard covers the whole family, and their conversations stay theirs. Daily conversation, reminders, routine, and a memory of your life that stays true as the years pass. Family can be part of it too: the people you invite see how you're doing, and can lend a hand when you want one. We believe that when keeping track starts to take more effort, people deserve real help without giving up the driver's seat. Staying in charge of your own life shouldn't end the day you accept a little support. #### The team ##### Morten Fillipsen CEO, Co-founder Built Elsy from personal experience with his father's cognitive aging. Get started See how it works --- ## https://helloelsy.com/dementia-companion ### When your parent has dementia and you can't be there every day You call every morning. You worry every evening. And in between, there are hours of silence where you have no idea how they're doing. Whether your parent lives alone or has limited company, the guilt doesn't care about logic. Download Elsy Available on iOS and Android. Free 7 day trial Download on the App Store Get it on Google Play #### The hardest part isn't the diagnosis. It's the quiet. When someone you love is diagnosed with dementia, the world gives you information. Pamphlets. Websites. Support group links. What nobody prepares you for is the daily reality: the loneliness your parent feels in those hours when nobody is there to talk to. They might call you three times to ask the same question. Or they might not call at all, and that silence is worse. You find yourself checking your phone constantly. Did they take their medication? Did they eat? Are they confused? Are they scared? You've probably tried a few things. Maybe you hired a caregiver for a few hours a week, but the cost adds up and the turnover is exhausting. Maybe you set up video calls, but they can't always figure out the technology. Maybe you've accepted that this is just how it is: a low hum of worry that never quite goes away. It doesn't have to be this way. #### What if your parent had someone to talk to, every day, with infinite patience? Imagine your parent picks up their phone or tablet. A warm voice greets them by name. Asks how they slept. Listens (really listens) as they tell the same story about their childhood for the fourth time this week. And responds with the same warmth every single time. No frustration. No rushed “yes, Dad, you told me that.” No awkward silence from a caregiver who doesn't know their history. Just a patient, gentle conversation with someone who knows their name, remembers they love gardening, and asks about their grandchildren. That's what Elsy does. #### Meet Elsy: an AI voice companion designed for people with dementia Elsy is a voice-first AI companion purpose-built for people living with dementia. Your parent just talks. No typing, no complicated interface, no touchscreen skills required. Elsy speaks their language (literally, she supports multiple languages) and adapts to their pace, their mood, and their way of communicating. She's not a robot. She's not Alexa. She's not a generic chatbot that treats your parent like a tech demo. Elsy is designed with one purpose: to be a warm, patient, dignified presence in your parent's day. For your parent ##### A companion who never gets tired Elsy talks to your parent daily about their life, their memories, and their day. She asks gentle questions, remembers details across conversations, and treats every interaction with warmth. Even if they've told the same story a hundred times. For you, the caregiver ##### Peace of mind without surveillance Elsy gives you wellbeing insights: mood trends, engagement patterns, and gentle alerts if something changes. You see how they're doing, not what they said. Their conversations stay private. Their dignity stays intact. For the whole family ##### A Care Circle that keeps everyone connected Invite siblings, family members, or professional caregivers to share wellbeing updates and manage reminders. Everyone stays informed. Nobody has to be the sole point of contact. #### See what your parent sees, and what you see A simple, warm conversation for them. A clear wellbeing picture for you. Good morning, John Reminders Sam visits at 3pm Medications Heart pill at 8:00 A question from me What did you enjoy as a child? Elsy Your parent's view: simple, warm, one tap to talk Morning orientation Elsy, what was I supposed to do today? Good morning, John. Sam's coming by at 3. He said he'll bring lunch. You also have coffee with Jane at 11. Elsy retrieves John's reminders Your parent's view: simple, warm, one tap to talk Your view: wellbeing patterns at a glance Tue · Mar 14 Confusion John had a few moments of mild confusion this afternoon. You may want to check in tomorrow. Sun · Mar 12 Mood Mood was a little lower after lunch. Had moments of repetitive questions, which you may want to gently follow up on. Sat · Mar 11 Memory A neighbour came up in conversation and the name slipped briefly. Recovered easily with a small prompt. Your view: wellbeing patterns at a glance How It Works #### It's simpler than you think 1 ##### You set it up (5 minutes) Create a caregiver account. Tell Elsy about your parent: their name, interests, daily routine, and anything that helps Elsy feel familiar from the first conversation. You manage everything from your phone. 2 ##### Your parent just talks Send your parent a simple link. When they open it, Elsy already knows who they are and greets them warmly. No account creation. No passwords. No confusion. Just a friendly voice saying hello. 3 ##### You stay informed Get wellbeing summaries, mood trends, and engagement data on your dashboard. Set medication and appointment reminders that Elsy delivers with warmth. Get notified if something changes, without having to ask. #### Why Elsy, not just another app? - Voice-first, not screen-first. Most dementia apps require tapping, swiping, and reading. Your parent doesn't need another screen to struggle with. Elsy is voice-first. They just talk, like a phone call with a friend. - Designed for dementia, not adapted for it. Generic AI assistants aren't built for someone who repeats questions, loses track of conversations, or needs gentle reorientation. Elsy is. Every interaction is designed for patience, warmth, and cognitive sensitivity. - Privacy by design. You see wellbeing scores and trends, never conversation transcripts. Your parent's conversations are theirs. We believe staying informed about how someone is doing and respecting their privacy aren't mutually exclusive. - No hardware required. No robot to ship. No smart speaker to configure. Elsy works on any phone or tablet your parent already has. - Remembers across conversations. Unlike generic AI, Elsy builds a persistent memory of your parent: their life story, preferences, daily routines. She gets better the more they talk. - Multilingual. Elsy speaks English, Danish, Swedish, French, Indonesian, and Chinese. Because dementia doesn't only happen in English, and your parent deserves a companion who speaks their mother tongue. #### What Elsy is not We believe honesty builds more trust than marketing. So here's what Elsy doesn't do: Elsy is not a medical device. She doesn't diagnose, treat, or monitor clinical conditions. She tracks conversational patterns that may be useful to share with your parent's doctor, but she is not a substitute for medical care. Elsy is not an emergency service. If your parent has a medical emergency, Elsy cannot call for help. She is a companion, not a safety system. Elsy is not a replacement for human connection. She's designed to fill the gaps between your visits: the quiet hours, the lonely mornings, the confusing afternoons. She supplements your care. She never replaces it. #### Why we built this Elsy was born from a personal need, not a market opportunity. Our founder's father lives with dementia in Scandinavia, thousands of miles away. The daily worry, the guilt of not being there, the helplessness of watching cognitive changes from a distance: that's not a user persona. That's a lived experience. Elsy started as a way to give his father someone to talk to on the days when nobody else could. A companion with infinite patience who would treat him with dignity regardless of how many times he repeated himself. It turns out a lot of families need exactly this. #### Give your parent someone to talk to Set up Elsy in 5 minutes. Your parent just talks. You get peace of mind. Download Elsy Available on iOS and Android. Free 7 day trial Questions? hello@helloelsy.com #### Common questions from families like yours ##### Is Elsy easy for someone with dementia to use? ##### Will my parent know they're talking to an AI? ##### What if my parent doesn't speak English well? ##### How is this different from Alexa or Siri? ##### Can I see what my parent talks about with Elsy? ##### What does it cost? ##### What devices does it work on? ##### Does Elsy work for someone with Alzheimer's? --- ## https://helloelsy.com/privacy-policy Privacy Policy — Elsy ← Back to home ### Privacy Policy Last updated: August 2026 Effective date: June 2026 Operator: Elsy Labs Pte. Ltd., Singapore · Contact: hello@helloelsy.com #### 1. About This Policy Elsy is an AI voice companion for elderly users and their caregivers, operated by Elsy Labs Pte. Ltd. ("we," "us," or "Elsy"). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have. We are committed to complying with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and to handling your data with the care and transparency that a service for elderly and vulnerable users demands. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR, described in Section 11. Elsy is a wellness and companionship tool. It is not a healthcare provider, medical device, or diagnostic tool. Nothing in Elsy's output should be treated as medical advice or a clinical assessment. #### 2. What We Collect ##### 2.1 Account Information When you sign up as a caregiver or are invited as a member, we collect your email address, name, timezone, language preference, and your role within a Care Circle (admin or member). If a caregiver invites you, we also record which Care Circle you belong to, who invited you, and whether consent was provided by you directly or on your behalf by your caregiver. ##### 2.2 Voice Conversations and Photos You Share When you talk to Elsy, your voice is streamed in real time to ElevenLabs (United States), the third-party voice AI service that powers Elsy's conversations, which generates Elsy's spoken responses. As part of this process, your speech is transcribed into text. We store these text transcripts to provide continuity across conversations, extract reminders, build your personal knowledge base, and generate wellbeing insights for your caregiver. So that Elsy can greet you by name and remember your life, each conversation also starts by providing ElevenLabs with the context Elsy needs: your first name, things Elsy remembers about you (which may include health-related topics you have mentioned), brief summaries of your recent conversations, your reminders and medications for the day, your caregivers' names, and, if you have turned on calendar sync, your upcoming calendar events. The app asks for your permission before your first conversation, and you can withdraw it at any time in the app's settings (AI and your data). We also store an audio recording (MP3) of each completed conversation in our secure cloud storage, alongside the transcript. We keep these recordings so that we can investigate quality issues, verify that transcription is accurate, debug problems you report, and improve the Elsy service. Audio recordings are stored in a private storage bucket, are not publicly accessible, and are protected by the same encryption and access controls as the rest of your data (see Section 8). During a voice conversation, you may choose to take or select a photo and send it to Elsy. The selected image is uploaded to ElevenLabs as part of that conversation so Elsy can describe it, read visible text, and discuss it with you. A photo may contain sensitive information such as medication labels, schedules, names, or details about other people. Elsy does not access your camera or photo library unless you choose to use this feature, and it receives only the image you explicitly select or capture. ##### 2.3 Personal Knowledge & Context From your conversations, Elsy automatically extracts personal facts (such as family members' names, hobbies, preferences, and routines), reminders you mention, and topics of interest. This extracted information is stored separately from your transcripts and is used to make future conversations more personal and relevant. Caregivers can also add background context about you — such as your daily routine, interests, important people in your life, and topics to approach sensitively. This information helps Elsy have better conversations with you but is not visible to you within the app. ##### 2.4 Wellbeing Data Elsy periodically analyzes your conversation transcripts using AI to generate wellbeing assessments. These assessments include estimated mood levels, confusion indicators, and conversational repetition patterns, each scored on a simple scale. These are pattern-based estimates, not clinical measurements. If certain patterns suggesting potential safety concerns (such as references to falls, distress, or emergencies) are detected during a conversation, an alert is created for your caregiver. ##### 2.5 Reminder, Medication & Calendar Data Elsy extracts and stores reminders from your conversations (such as appointments and tasks). Caregivers can also add medications and reminders directly. We store medication names, dosages, schedules, and reminder details. Reminders and medication alerts may be delivered via push notification or email depending on your settings. If you turn on calendar sync in the app, upcoming events are read from your device's calendar and shared with Elsy during a conversation so she can talk about your day (see Section 2.2). Elsy does not keep a separate copy of your calendar; events are read from your device each time, and calendar access can be turned off at any time in your device settings. ##### 2.6 Device & Usage Data We collect basic usage data such as when you last had a conversation, session duration, and app interaction patterns. We collect push notification tokens for delivering notifications. We do not track your location. On our website, analytics and advertising cookies are off by default and load only if you accept them in our cookie banner (see Section 16); advertising and attribution in our mobile app are described in Section 2.7 below. ##### 2.7 Advertising & Attribution Data (Mobile App) In the Elsy mobile app, we use the Meta (Facebook) SDK to measure how well our advertising performs — for example, which ads lead people to install Elsy, complete signup, or subscribe — so we can spend our marketing budget responsibly and reach more families who could benefit from Elsy. For this, we collect your device's advertising identifier and share a small, fixed set of non-identifying app-activity events with Meta Platforms, Inc.: completing registration, adding a family member, starting a subscription, starting the in-app demo, and starting a conversation. These events carry only non-identifying values (such as counts and yes/no flags), never your name, email, anything you say to Elsy, or any photo you share. This is strictly limited and you control it. On iOS, we ask your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and we enable advertising measurement only if you allow it. On Android, it follows your device's advertising-ID setting, which you can reset or opt out of at any time in your device settings. We do not use advertising data for Elsy's wellbeing features, and we never share your conversations, transcripts, voice recordings, shared photos, reminders, or health-related information with Meta or any advertising partner. #### 3. How We Use Your Data We use your personal data for the following purposes: Providing the Elsy service: Processing your voice conversations, generating AI responses, interpreting photos you choose to share, maintaining conversation continuity, extracting and delivering reminders, and building your personal knowledge base. Wellbeing insights for caregivers: Generating aggregated wellbeing summaries for your designated caregiver. These summaries include mood trends, engagement levels, topics of interest, and potential concerns. Summaries reflect general patterns and themes. They do not include word-for-word quotes from your conversations. Caregivers do not have access to your full conversation transcripts or voice recordings. Safety alerts: Detecting potential safety concerns in conversations and notifying your caregiver if concerning patterns are identified. Communications: Sending you reminders, daily digest emails, and service-related notifications via email or push notifications based on your preferences. Service improvement and engineering: Members of Elsy's technical team — bound by confidentiality obligations, may access your conversation transcripts, audio recordings, and photos you share to investigate bugs, diagnose issues you or your caregiver report, improve AI response quality, and develop new product features. Access is limited to the engineers who need it to operate and improve the service. Advertising measurement: With your consent (see Section 2.7), measuring how effective our advertising is — using your device's advertising identifier and a small set of non-identifying app-activity events — so we can reach more families who could benefit from Elsy. Beyond the limited, consent-based advertising measurement described in Section 2.7, we do not use your personal data for advertising, and we never use the content of your conversations for any advertising purpose. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data to train general-purpose AI models — your data is used only to improve Elsy's service for you and other Elsy users. #### 4. Wellbeing Summaries — What Caregivers See and Don't See This section is important because Elsy operates in a space where the person having conversations (the member) and the person receiving insights (the caregiver) are different people. What caregivers receive: - Mood trend scores (e.g., "mood has been stable this week at 7/10") - Confusion and repetition pattern indicators - General topics of conversation (e.g., "discussed family, asked about the weather") - Engagement metrics (conversation frequency and duration) - Safety alerts when concerning patterns are detected - A brief AI-generated narrative summary of how the member appears to be doing What caregivers do NOT receive: - Full conversation transcripts - Voice recordings or audio of any kind - Photos the member sends during a conversation - Word-for-word quotes from conversations - Detailed personal disclosures the member makes to Elsy This boundary is enforced by our system architecture, not merely by policy. Important disclaimer: Wellbeing summaries are generated by AI based on conversation text analysis. They are not medical assessments, clinical evaluations, or diagnostic tools. They may contain errors, misinterpretations, or inaccuracies. Caregivers should always verify a member's wellbeing through direct personal contact and should never rely solely on Elsy's assessments for care decisions. #### 5. Who We Share Data With ##### 5.1 Third-Party Service Providers To operate Elsy, we use the following third-party services that process your data on our behalf: - ElevenLabs (United States): Provides real-time voice conversation capabilities, including voice synthesis, speech-to-text transcription, and processing photos you choose to share during a conversation. Also receives the conversation context described in Section 2.2 (your first name, remembered facts, recent-conversation summaries, reminders and medications, caregiver first names, and synced calendar events) at the start of each conversation. - Anthropic (United States) — Processes conversation transcripts to extract personal facts, generate wellbeing assessments, detect potential safety concerns, and keep Elsy's memory of you accurate over time. Anthropic processes data under its commercial API terms, which state that API data is not used to train their models. - OpenAI (United States) — Processes transcript-derived text to power search within Elsy's memory, remove duplicate facts, and produce daily digest summaries and daily questions. OpenAI processes data under their API data usage policy, which states that API data is not used to train their models. - Perplexity (United States) — If you ask Elsy to look something up online, the search query is sent to Perplexity to retrieve current information, together with the country your time zone falls in and your language preference, so that answers about local services are about the right place. Your identity is not included with the query. - Supabase (hosted in the European Union, Ireland) — Our primary database, file storage, and authentication provider. Stores your account information, conversation transcripts, conversation audio recordings, extracted context, reminders, and wellbeing data. - Vercel (United States) — Hosts the Elsy web application and caregiver dashboard, and runs the server-side processing behind features such as memory extraction and digests. - Resend (United States) — Delivers email notifications including daily digests, invitation emails, and safety alerts. Processes your email address and email content. - Stripe (United States) — Processes subscription payments made on our website. We do not store your full card details ourselves. - RevenueCat (United States) — Manages in-app subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, processing purchase receipts and subscription status. - Google / Firebase (United States) — Provides mobile app analytics, app integrity checks, and remote configuration for the Elsy mobile app, and website analytics (see Section 16). Analytics data covers app usage events, not conversation content. - Loops (United States) — Sends marketing emails to caregivers who have opted in. Receives your email address and name only if you gave marketing consent, which you can withdraw at any time. - Sentry (United States) — Error monitoring that helps us find and fix bugs. Reports are scrubbed of personal information before they are sent. - Meta Platforms, Inc. (United States): With your consent, receives your device's advertising identifier and a small set of non-identifying app-activity events (see Section 2.7) to measure and improve our Facebook/Instagram advertising. Meta does not receive your conversations, transcripts, voice recordings, shared photos, reminders, or health-related data. With the exception of Meta's advertising measurement described above — which you control through the App Tracking Transparency prompt (iOS) or your device's advertising-ID setting (Android) — our third-party providers are bound by their respective data processing terms and process your data solely to deliver the Elsy service, not for their own unrelated commercial purposes. ##### 5.2 Your Caregiver If you are a member of a Care Circle, your designated caregiver receives wellbeing summaries and safety alerts as described in Section 4. They do not receive your conversation transcripts, voice recordings, or photos you share during conversations. ##### 5.3 No Other Sharing Other than the consent-based advertising measurement with Meta described in Section 5.1, we do not sell, rent, license, or otherwise share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, or any other third parties. We never sell your personal data. If our sharing practices change in a material way, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent. #### 6. International Data Transfers Elsy is operated from Singapore. Your stored data (including conversation transcripts, audio recordings, extracted context, and wellbeing data) is held in our primary database and file storage hosted in the European Union (Ireland). Several of our third-party service providers listed in Section 5.1 are based in or process data in the United States and other jurisdictions, so specific categories of your personal data are transferred to those providers as part of operating the service. We take steps to ensure that these transfers are protected by appropriate contractual safeguards and that the receiving parties maintain standards of data protection comparable to those required under Singapore's PDPA and, for users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR. Where applicable, we rely on the service providers' data processing agreements, standard contractual clauses, and participation in recognized transfer frameworks such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. #### 7. Data Retention Conversation transcripts, audio recordings, and photos shared in conversations: Retained for as long as your account is active. Transcripts allow Elsy to maintain continuity across conversations and provide personalized interactions over time. Audio recordings allow us to investigate quality issues and improve the service. Photos are held by ElevenLabs as part of the conversation in which they were sent. When your account or member profile is deleted, Elsy deletes both its own conversation copies and the corresponding ElevenLabs conversations, including uploaded photos. Extracted context (facts, reminders, preferences): Retained for as long as your account is active so that Elsy can stay personal over time. Deleted when your account is deleted. Wellbeing data: Retained for as long as your account is active to allow caregivers to view trends over time. Account information: Retained for as long as you maintain an account with Elsy. We may delete accounts that have been inactive for an extended period (for example, more than 12 months), and where reasonably possible we will attempt to contact you or your caregiver first. Reminders and medications: Active reminders are retained until completed or deleted. Completed reminders are retained for reference for as long as your account is active. You or your caregiver can request deletion of your data at any time on our delete account page . Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it (for example, billing records held for tax compliance). #### 8. Data Security We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include: - Encrypted data storage and encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) - Row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own data - Access controls limiting who can access your data within our systems - Secure authentication for all user accounts No system is perfectly secure. While we take data protection seriously, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in significant harm, we will notify affected users and the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) as required by the PDPA. #### 9. Consent and Vulnerable Users ##### 9.1 How We Obtain Consent When you first use Elsy, you are presented with a consent agreement that explains what data is collected and how it is used. You must accept the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy before you can proceed. Before your first voice conversation, the app additionally asks for your explicit permission to share your data with the third-party AI services that power Elsy (ElevenLabs, Anthropic, and OpenAI), naming what is shared and with whom. The app does not start a conversation until you agree. ##### 9.2 Consent on Behalf of Others Elsy is designed for elderly users, some of whom may have cognitive conditions that affect their ability to understand and consent to data processing. When a caregiver sets up a patient account, they are asked to confirm that they have the authority to consent on that person's behalf — for example, as a holder of a Lasting Power of Attorney, a court-appointed deputy, or as next-of-kin acting in the person's best interest. ##### 9.3 Withdrawing Consent You may withdraw your permission for sharing data with the AI services at any time in the mobile app under the settings entry "AI and your data". After withdrawal, the app asks for your permission again before your next conversation. You may also withdraw your consent to Elsy's data processing entirely by contacting us at hello@helloelsy.com or by requesting your caregiver to delete your account. Withdrawing consent means we will stop processing your data, but it does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. #### 10. Your Rights Under the PDPA Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, you have the right to: - Access: Request access to the personal data we hold about you. We will respond within 30 days. - Correction: Request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data about you. - Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw your consent for us to collect, use, or disclose your personal data, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. - Data deletion: Request that we delete your personal data. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at the details below. #### 11. Your Rights if You Are in the EEA or UK (GDPR) If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR or UK GDPR) applies to our processing of your personal data. Legal bases: We process your personal data on the basis of your consent (which you give when you accept this policy and the in-app consent screens), the performance of our contract with you (providing the Elsy service you or your caregiver signed up for), and our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and improving it. For health-related information you choose to share with Elsy, such as medications and the wellbeing analysis of your conversations, we rely on your explicit consent, or the explicit consent given on your behalf as described in Section 9.2. You can withdraw consent at any time as described in Section 9.3. In addition to the rights listed in Section 10, you have the right to: - Erasure: Ask us to delete your personal data (see Section 7 for how deletion works). - Data portability: Receive a copy of the personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. - Restriction: Ask us to restrict processing of your personal data in certain circumstances. - Objection: Object to processing based on our legitimate interests. - Complaint: Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (for example, Datatilsynet if you are in Denmark). To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer at the details in Section 17. We will respond within one month. As described in Section 6, your stored data is hosted in the European Union, and transfers to our US-based providers are protected by the safeguards listed there. #### 12. Children Elsy is not designed for or directed at children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child's data has been collected through Elsy, please contact us immediately and we will delete it. #### 13. Third-Party Data Mentioned in Conversations During conversations with Elsy, members may mention other people — family members, friends, neighbors, healthcare providers, by name or with identifying details. A photo they choose to share may also contain another person or that person's information. This incidental third-party data is captured in conversation transcripts or uploaded photos and may be reflected in extracted context or wellbeing summaries. We treat incidental third-party data with the same protections as member data. It is not shared beyond the member's Care Circle, not used for any purpose other than providing the Elsy service, and is deleted when the member's account is deleted. #### 14. What Elsy Is Not To set clear expectations: - Elsy is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnoses, clinical assessments, or treatment recommendations. Wellbeing scores are AI-generated estimates based on conversational patterns, not clinical measurements. - Elsy is not an emergency service. While Elsy includes safety alerts, it is not a substitute for emergency services, medical monitoring equipment, or professional care. In any emergency, call your local emergency number. - Elsy is not a replacement for human care. It is designed to complement, not replace, the relationship between elderly users and their families, caregivers, and healthcare providers. #### 15. Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify users through the app or via email before the changes take effect. #### 16. Cookies & Analytics Our website uses a consent management banner (Cookiebot) together with Google Consent Mode v2 to control all analytics and advertising tags. This means: - Analytics and advertising cookies are off by default for all visitors. Nothing beyond strictly necessary cookies is set until you make a choice in the banner. - If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website, which sets first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_* . - If you accept marketing cookies, we use the Meta Pixel to measure whether our advertising works, for example whether an ad visit led to a signup. You can change your cookie preference at any time using the Manage preferences link, or by clearing your browser cookies and reloading the page. #### 17. Service Description Elsy is an AI-powered voice companion designed for elderly people, including those living with dementia and other cognitive conditions. The Service enables patients to have natural voice conversations with an AI companion, and provides caregivers with wellbeing insights and summaries. Elsy is not a medical device. The Service is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. It is a communication and wellbeing monitoring tool only. Where a patient is unable to consent independently due to cognitive impairment, the caregiver must have appropriate legal authority to consent on their behalf (e.g., Lasting Power of Attorney, court-appointed deputyship, or as next-of-kin acting in the person's best interest). - The Service is not directed at children under 18 years of age. #### 3. Accounts You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it updated. Each person may maintain only one account. If you create an account on behalf of a patient, you represent that you have the legal authority to do so and to consent to these Terms and the Privacy Policy on their behalf. #### 4. AI Limitations Elsy uses artificial intelligence to generate responses and insights. You acknowledge that: - AI-generated responses may contain errors, inaccuracies, or misinterpretations. Elsy may occasionally misunderstand or misremember information. - Wellbeing assessments (mood, confusion, repetition scores) are pattern-based estimates, not clinical measurements. They should never be used as a substitute for professional medical evaluation. - Safety alerts are based on keyword and pattern detection and may produce both false positives and false negatives. Caregivers should always verify a patient's wellbeing through direct personal contact. - The AI companion is not a licensed healthcare provider, therapist, counselor, or emergency responder. #### 6. Data and Privacy Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy , which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy. #### 7. Intellectual Property The Service, including its design, software, AI models, and content, is owned by Elsy Labs Pte. Ltd. and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. #### 8. Termination You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us at hello@helloelsy.com . We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, we will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. #### 9. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: - The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. - We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or reliable. - In no event shall Elsy Labs Pte. Ltd. be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages arising from reliance on AI-generated wellbeing assessments or safety alerts. - Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or SGD 100, whichever is greater. #### 10. Indemnification You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Elsy Labs Pte. Ltd. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person. #### 11. Changes to These Terms We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. #### 12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be referred to and finally resolved by the courts of Singapore. #### 13. General - If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. - Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. - These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Elsy Labs Pte. Warning signs include constant tiredness, irritability, sleep problems, pulling away from friends, and neglecting your own health. It is common and not a failure. The way through is regular breaks, accepting help, respite care, and support from others. - [Caring for someone with dementia at home: a practical guide](https://helloelsy.com/learn/caring-for-someone-with-dementia-at-home): Caring for someone with dementia at home comes down to a few things done consistently: a steady routine, a safe space, calm communication, and support for you. This guide walks through each, with links to deeper answers on the hard moments. - [How do you communicate with someone who has dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/how-to-communicate-with-someone-with-dementia): Keep it simple and calm. Use short sentences with one idea at a time, approach from the front and use their name, and give plenty of time to respond. Answer the feeling behind the words rather than correcting the facts. - [How do you handle aggression in someone with dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/how-to-handle-aggression-in-dementia): Aggression in dementia is almost always a reaction to an unmet need, pain, fear, or confusion, not something deliberate. Keep yourself safe, stay calm, avoid arguing, and look for what triggered it. Rule out pain first, since it is one of the most common hidden causes. - [How do you respond when someone with dementia asks the same question over and over?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/how-to-respond-to-repeated-questions-in-dementia): When someone with dementia repeats a question, they have genuinely forgotten asking it, and the question often carries a feeling like worry or insecurity. Answer briefly and calmly, reassure the feeling underneath, and gently redirect to an activity. Avoid saying "you already asked me that." - [If my parent has dementia, will I get it too?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/if-my-parent-has-dementia-will-i-get-it): Probably not just because of them. A parent with Alzheimer's raises your risk compared with someone without that history, but most children of people with dementia never develop it. For the common late-onset form, age and lifestyle matter more than family history. - [Is dementia hereditary?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/is-dementia-hereditary): For most people, dementia is not directly inherited. Having a parent or sibling with Alzheimer's raises your risk somewhat, but genes are only one factor alongside age and lifestyle. Rare single-gene forms that are strongly inherited do exist, but they account for a small share of all cases. - [Is dementia the same as Alzheimer's?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/dementia-vs-alzheimers): No. Dementia is an umbrella term for symptoms like memory loss and confusion that interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's is a specific brain disease, and the most common cause of dementia, behind an estimated 60 to 80 percent of cases. All Alzheimer's is dementia, but not all dementia is Alzheimer's. - [Normal aging vs dementia: how do you tell the difference?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/normal-aging-vs-dementia): Occasional forgetfulness, like misplacing keys or blanking on a name, is a normal part of aging. Dementia is different: it disrupts daily life, gets worse over time, and affects judgment, language, or familiar tasks, not just memory. See a doctor when forgetfulness starts interfering with daily life. - [Should I get genetic testing for dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/should-i-get-genetic-testing-for-dementia): For most people, no. Routine genetic testing, such as the APOE gene, cannot tell you whether or when you will get dementia, so it rarely changes anything. Testing mainly makes sense when there is a strong family history of early-onset dementia, and it is best done with genetic counseling. - [Understanding dementia: symptoms, early signs, and getting a diagnosis](https://helloelsy.com/learn/understanding-dementia-symptoms-and-diagnosis): A plain-language guide to what dementia looks like early on, how it differs from normal aging and mild cognitive impairment, which conditions can mimic it, and how a diagnosis is made. Read this first, then follow the links for each question in depth. - [What are the 7 stages of dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/7-stages-of-dementia): The 7 stages of dementia come from the Global Deterioration Scale, which maps decline from no impairment (stage 1), through very mild and mild changes, to moderate and severe dementia (stages 6 and 7). Many clinicians use a simpler early, middle, and late model, but both describe the same overall path. - [What are the early signs of dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/early-signs-of-dementia): Early signs of dementia go beyond ordinary forgetfulness: memory loss that disrupts daily life, trouble planning or solving problems, difficulty with familiar tasks, confusion about time or place, new problems with words, misplacing things, and changes in judgment or mood. If several appear and get worse, see a doctor. - [What are the main types of dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/types-of-dementia): The four most common types are Alzheimer's disease, which is by far the most common, then vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, and frontotemporal dementia. Each comes from different changes in the brain and can bring different early symptoms, and a person can have more than one at the same time. - [What causes dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/what-causes-dementia): Dementia happens when disease damages nerve cells in the brain so it can no longer work properly. Different diseases cause different types. In Alzheimer's, amyloid and tau proteins build up, and vascular dementia follows reduced blood flow. Age is the biggest risk factor, not a normal part of aging. - [What conditions can look like dementia but are reversible?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/conditions-that-mimic-dementia): Several treatable conditions cause dementia-like memory and thinking problems, including depression, medication side effects, thyroid trouble, vitamin B12 deficiency, infections, and delirium. Because some are reversible, new confusion should always be medically assessed, not assumed to be dementia. - [What do you do when someone with dementia won't eat or bathe?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/dementia-refusing-to-eat-or-bathe): Refusing food or washing is usually about fear, discomfort, or loss of control, not stubbornness. Offer simple choices, break the task into small steps, keep a calm routine, and pick the person's best time of day. Small, familiar meals and a warm, private bathroom make a real difference. - [What is dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/what-is-dementia): Dementia is not one disease but a group of symptoms, memory loss, confusion, and trouble with thinking and everyday tasks, caused by diseases that damage the brain. It is severe enough to affect daily life, it is not a normal part of aging, and Alzheimer's is its most common cause. - [What is sundowning, and how do you manage it?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/what-is-sundowning-and-how-do-you-manage-it): Sundowning is a pattern of increased confusion, restlessness, or agitation in the late afternoon and evening. You can ease it with a steady daily routine, more light during the day, less caffeine and late napping, and a calm, quiet lead-up to bedtime. - [What is the difference between mild cognitive impairment and dementia?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/mild-cognitive-impairment-vs-dementia): Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) means memory or thinking is worse than expected for someone's age, but they can still manage everyday life. Dementia is more severe and interferes with daily tasks and independence. MCI sometimes progresses to dementia, but many people with MCI stay stable. - [When is it time to consider memory care?](https://helloelsy.com/learn/when-is-it-time-for-memory-care): Consider memory care when safety is at risk, when the person's needs are more than can be met safely at home, or when caregiving is seriously harming your own health. Wandering, falls, aggression, incontinence, and caregiver exhaustion are common turning points. It is a safety decision, not a failure. --- ## https://helloelsy.com/da/viden # Viden (Danish) Danish answer library written for older adults themselves. 20 questions, each answered on its own page with sources cited. - [Betyder hørelsen noget for hjernen?](https://helloelsy.com/da/viden/betyder-hoerelsen-noget-for-hjernen): Ja, i høj grad. Sundhedsstyrelsen anbefaler 7-8 timers søvn i døgnet for ældre over 65.
